Performance Improvement Through Leadership

St Kilda AFL Football Club player, Justin Peckett, retired from the Saints in 2006 after a 17 year career, during which time he also delivered life skills and leadership programmes with schools, indigenous communities, elite sports and corporate settings.  In his workshop, 'Performance Improvement Through Enhanced Leadership,' Justin provides a structure to empower leaders and aspiring-leaders to be accountable, participate in open and honest reviews of performance, and to develop functional dynamics within groups.

During the session, delegates can expect to be introduced to the practical application of the tools, qualities and skills that a good leader is expected to display.

Designing Laboratories for the Future: What Do You Need to Consider?

Tony Della-Porta is an internationally renowned expert in biosecurity, biocontainment and biological safety.  After attaining his PhD qualifications in microbiology, Tony joined CSIRO's Division of Animal Health and was involved in commissioning the Australian Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL) high containment microbiology facilities in Geelong.  During his 30 years at AAHL, Tony became Deputy Head of Laboratory, retiring in 2003  to begin Bio2ic. He was the founding President of the Association of Biosafety for Australia and New Zealand (ABSANZ).  He has been involved in the design and construction of biocontainment laboratories both in Australia and overseas.

During the workshop, delegates will look at the evolution of the laboratory, design principles, risk assessment and workflow analysis, practical design consultation, laboratory furniture and equipment, and building monitoring and control systems.
